Ferndale is located 30 minutes from the Canadian border, and about an hour from Vancouver, British Columbia home of the 2010 Winter Olympics, annual world fireworks competition, Shakespeare Festival (Bard on the Beach),  performing arts...the list goes on and on.

Ferndale is also located about 10 minutes commute from Bellingham, Washington. Families find that this city is slower, quieter spot to raise a family, and enjoy a more small town, rural environment. As a result, churches and schools in this area flourish.

The population of Ferndale is near 10,000 according to the Ferndale Chamber of Commerce. 

A successful local business story:  Barlean's began around 1972 as a farm and fish processing company.  They've blossomed to supplying fresh organic products, such as fresh Omega-3 oils.  They remain local and are an intregal part of the Ferndale and Whatcom County community.
